In October 2025, Columbia Veterinary Hospital in The Dalles, Oregon reportedly used Zoetis's Vetscan Imagyst on a neck mass in an 11-year-old dog. The tool allegedly called it inflammatory; a biopsy found cancer. The hospital alleges a second surgery was needed and the dog died from complications.

What this means for youIf a vet uses an AI tool to read test results, a wrong answer can change the treatment your pet gets. Ask your vet whether AI was used and whether a specialist or a biopsy can confirm important results.
