During an internal Project Deal experiment, an Anthropic Claude-powered shopping agent purchased an identical snowboard that its owner already owned - a documented example of an autonomous agent making an unintended/uninformed purchase.
What this means for youAt home: a shopping agent may buy things you already own, so set spending limits and require approval before any purchase. At work: confirm purchase agents check existing inventory and need sign-off. Governments have no direct role here yet.
