Lawyers were barred from entry to Madison Square Garden after a facial recognition system matched them as employed by a law firm currently engaged in litigation with the venue.
What this means for youFacial recognition can wrongly flag ordinary people and block them from places they have every right to enter. At work, ask whether a venue or employer uses face scanning and what appeal process exists. In government, rules should require human review before anyone is denied access based on a face match.
