A Serve Robotics delivery robot reportedly hit a glass bus shelter in Chicago's West Town neighborhood, shattering panels and scattering glass on the sidewalk. The company said all three of its sensor systems failed to detect the glass wall. It later changed how robots operate near bus shelters and updated perception software and hardware.

What this means for youSidewalk delivery robots now share public space with pedestrians, and their sensors can miss clear objects like glass. If robots operate near your home or business, report damage or hazards to the operator and your local authority.
