AP reported that traffickers at Myanmar's Tai Chang scam compound forced Safeer Mohammed Koorimannil to use an AI-powered platform called KT to impersonate women and target thousands online. The platform reportedly supported scam conversations and monitored worker performance. He said he was beaten for poor results and paid for his release.
What this means for youOnline chats with unknown people can be run by scam operations using AI tools, sometimes staffed by trafficked workers. Be wary of new contacts who steer toward money or investments, and do not send money to someone you have only met online.
