Samsung engineers are reported to have inadvertently leaked sensitive company data sometime in March 2023, including source code and internal meeting notes, by using ChatGPT to assist with tasks. ChatGPT allegedly retained the inputted data, leading to a purported breach of confidentiality.
What this means for youAt home and work, anything typed into a public chatbot may be stored or reused by the provider, so confidential material can leak. Companies and regulators have since set rules on staff use of such tools. Check your workplace policy and avoid pasting private or company data into chatbots, or turn off chat history and training use where offered.
